First Graders

WD

Ladd Haak

"The first student I want to acknowledge is a student who is always asking to take his computer home to work on iReady and complete AR test. He has become extremely determined to move his dot on reading and math assignments along with going above and beyond on his AR goal. His hard work has not only show me great things with iReady and AR but his grades and fluency has also improved. I would like Ladd Haak to come up and get his award."

WD

Josie-Leigh Thoren

"The next student has become a math whiz along with a very detailed writer. Math has become a subject where she is constantly showing me that she has a great understanding of numbers and how to prove her work. In writing she has been doing a great job using words to allow the reader to visualize what she is writing. I am enjoying watching her become extremely confident and also determined to do her best. Can Josie-Leigh please come up and get her award."

~ Mrs. Sarah Matheny

WD

Karter Hines

"My third student I would like to acknowledge is a student who has developed a lot of academic confidence. She is no longer relying on friends to help her with everything, she is confident in her abilities to get her work done independently. She has done a great job taking her time and reading slowly to make sure she is completing her test and assignments with accuracy and efficient. The steps she has taken to ensure good work are not only improving her grades but it is also bettering her abilities to want to continue to work hard. Could Karter Hines please come accept her award."

~ Mrs. Sarah Matheny

WD

Lennon Albitre

"My last student I would like to acknowledge is a boy who has become not only proud to show me his accomplishments, but I also get to see his joy for what he is accomplishing. The smile he gets when he passes personal goals, gets 100% on test, reads 90 words in a min., completes math fluency test, etc., is so rewarding and contagious. He has become very goal driven and whenever he has a goal set in place he puts 110% effort in to reaching the goal or going above and beyond it. He is a student who wants to please his teachers and himself that he can do hard things! Could Lennon Albitre please come down to get his award."

~ Mrs. Sarah Matheny

Kindergarteners

E

Maya Baker

"This student is a complete sweetheart. She is kind, caring, compassionate, empathetic, and a VERY hard working. She goes above and beyond on assignments This student is also a perfectionist so much that, I am pretty sure she has better handwriting than the teacher most days! She cares deeply for her friends and classmates, always coming to me with worries about how they are doing if they are absent – letting me know that she misses them. She is very responsible and respectful and leads by example in the classroom. I look forward to her hugs and smiles and the endless supply of drawings she makes for not only me but many of her friends as well. She is excelling academically. She started off the year a little shy, but is certainly coming out of her shell. We are so happy that she (and her siblings and Mom, our music teacher) joined us here at HES this year! Way to go, Maya Baker!!"

~Mrs. Chelsea Matheny

E

Emma Britt

"The last person I would like to honor has exceeded my expectations of her throughout the year.  She has a heart of gold, but don’t mess with her, she will tell you her feelings! Her smile lights up a room and she LOVES to help her helpless teacher!  This girl started to read and TOOK off like a rocket ship!  She is reading fluently and comprehending her reading.  She picks up any book and not only looks at the pictures, but she reads, reads, reads.  She also is soaring in her writing skills, multiple sentences, compound words, conventions…all the things 😊 Oh, and not to mention her math skill.  This girl all around academically is reaching great heights.  Little Miss Emma Marie, come on up and let’s celebrate your accomplishments in Kindergarten!  You’re a kindergarten rock star!!"

~Mrs. Calvert

E

Sawyer Chick

"The second boy I would like to honor has shown me how sweetness and ALL boy mesh perfectly!  He has a rough and tumble side but he also has a very gentle and helpful side!  He constantly challenges me to challenge him as well!  He wants more work and more work and more work!  He loves school!  His smile lights up our room! It is wonderful to see this child reading the way he is!  If it were his choice, we would read ALL DAY LONG!  He loves to have a book open and in fact, most of the time he has several he’s reading at a time. The student I would like to honor is Sawyer Chick!  Keep up the GREAT work!"

~Mrs. Calvert

E

Colbie Patterson

This student is a perfectionist and doesn’t turn things in unless she has done her very best. She has made so much progress this year and is excelling in all academic areas. She is kind and sensitive and loves her family, dog and big brother, Cooper. I am so glad you are in my class this year. Congratulations, Colbie Patterson."

Zeb Wedding

"The first boy has been making me laugh since the day I met him!  He is the perfect combination of sweet, thoughtful and playful! Ever since he was kind to my children over our back fence, I knew he was something special! He has been working extra hard this year.  His academic growth is off the charts.  He challenges me daily to challenge him! This kid is reading like a champ, adding and subtracting like a champ, and his writing is beautiful! I can ALWAYS count on him to be doing the right thing.  He helps his friends and is always willing to help me too! I would like to honor Zeb Wedding for his academic progress this year!  Keep shinning and showing off that big heart of yours! "

Jaxon Wilson

"This student has made so much progress this year! He is becoming a great little reader and he is a math whiz! He has impressed me with his math addition fluency and his sight word knowledge and blending skills have helped him to begin reading books independently. He is smart, silly at times, but also very serious at times. He is a good friend and always has a big smile on his face. He is a very hard worker and constantly helps those around him. I am so grateful I get to be your teacher this year, Jaxon Wilson! "
