hands in a circle

This week, Heppner Elementary School students had the opportunity to learn important lessons about fire safety during Fire Prevention Week. Our local fire department visited the school to provide engaging, hands-on presentations that reminded students how to stay safe in the event of an emergency.

Firefighters talked with students about:

  • The importance of working smoke detectors in every home.

  • How firefighters put on their protective gear and why it’s important not to be afraid of them during an emergency.

  • How to prevent and respond to kitchen fires, one of the most common fire hazards at home.

  • What students should do if there is ever a fire in the school building.

Students also had the chance to see firefighters up close, ask questions, and gain confidence about what to do if they ever face a dangerous situation.

Heppner Elementary School is proud to partner with our local fire department in helping to teach children life-saving information. We are incredibly thankful for the time, energy, and dedication our firefighters give—not only in responding to emergencies, but also in building safety awareness within our communities.

We appreciate their service and commitment to keeping our families safe. Thank you, firefighters!
