Irrigon Junior Senior High School Unveils New Tennis Courts

On Monday, March 9th, Irrigon Junior/Senior High School had an official ribbon cutting for our new home tennis courts. Coaches and members of the tennis team shared a few words of gratitude for the sponsors before braving the wind outside to cut the ribbon.

The new tennis courts were made possible through generous donations, community-funded grant dollars, and hours of teamwork and coordination by the City of Irrigon and the Morrow County School District.

Before this change, students and coaches had to travel to the courts at A.C. Houghton for practices and matches. Having home courts at IJSHS allows the team to practice and host matches at their own school, strengthening school pride while providing a more convenient and safer environment for students.

Principal Rose Palmer shared that the new addition represents more than just a facility improvement.

"We are extremely grateful to everyone who helped make this a possibility. Now, students can take pride in having their very own tennis courts on their school's campus. We appreciate our community’s dedication to offering its students positive experiences," she said.

Save the date, the first tennis matches at home will take place on March 20, beginning at 2:00pm!
